CHIANG MAI & MAE HONGSON DISCOVERY
Chiang Mai- Mae Hongson
4 Days / 3 Nights

Day 01: Chiang Mai - Pai ( L)
Welcome at Chiang Mai airport and drive to Pai. Shortly after leaving Chiang Mai, stop in Mae Rim to visit the Darapirom Palace. Princess Chao Dara Rasmi, daughter of Chiang Mai’s King Phra Chao Indrvijayanonda, become a Royal Consort of King Chulalongkorn in 1886. 22 years later, after the death of her father, and shortly after the death of her Royal husband, she decided to move back to Chiang Mai where she built the Darapirom Palace. From here, she undertook a wide range of benevolent activities in agriculture in the north. Breeding new varieties of roses was one of her great achievements. Her favourite ones were pink roses with a mild fragrance, which she named Chulalongkorn in memory of her beloved husband. From here, start to drive into the hills where on winding roads you drive up to Pai.  Lunch at the Benjarong Restaurant. In the afternoon, enjoy an easy bicycle tour to discover Pai and its surrounding areas. After a quick adjustment on the saddles, the guide will lead you along the left bank of the Pai River, visiting “Hot Springs” and Shan village among the paddy fields (18 km). Pick-up truck assistant will bring fresh water, fruits and snacks. You will cross the Pai river and come back along the right bank. On the way you will have a chance to view the “Pai Canyon” The whole loop will take 3 to 4 hrs. Return to your hotel. Overnight at Belle Villa or similar

Day 02: Pai – Mae Hong Son (B, L)
Morning check out and leave Pai for Mae Hong Son, en route stop at the “Wind pass” for a breathtaking view over the foot-hill of the Himalayas range, drive down the valley to reach Sop pong and Ban Tham, a Shan Village and explore the great “Tham Lot caves” where villages awaits you with lanterns and rafts to escort you through the cave. Continue to drive to Mae Hong Son for lunch at the Fern Restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Burmese style temples Wat Jong Kam and Wat Jong Klang, houses 100 years old glass paintings and woodcarving from Burma that depict the various lives of the Buddha.  Overnight at Fern Resort in Mae Hong Son or similar

Day 03: Mae Hong Son – Mae Chaem (B, L)
Today’s drive is long, over rolling hills with stunning views. Stop to take pictures at the various view- points. The first stop is at the war museum in Khun Yuam. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to drive on the mountain road towards Mae Chaem where you arrive mid afternoon. Enjoy a walk through this little quiet town. Overnight at Chaem Muang Guest House or similar

Day 04: Mae Chaem – Doi Inthanon – Chiang Mai (B, L)
Depart early morning and drive directly up to Thailand’s highest mountain, Doi Inthanon. After yesterday long drive, you will enjoy two hours walk through the dense jungle into the open a marvel of a stunning view (only possible in the dry season). Continue to drive to Klan Khun Royal Project for lunch. After lunch, proceed and stop at Vachirathan Waterfall for a break before heading to Chiang   Mai where you arrive later in the afternoon.
End all services.
