HANOI - SAPA TRAIN INFORMATION

Getting there
Two main roads wend their way into the north western mountain area: the latter part of the trip offers good views, but the roads are poor and the twelve-hour journey is tiring. For most visitors, overnight train travel from Hanoi to Lao Cai and by road to Sapa is the best option.

Train Labels:
The Ha Noi-Lao Cai trains runs every evening, departing from Ha Noi Train Station at 120 Le Duan Street. Three run at night, and one makes a day trip. The following are the trains from Ha Noi to Lao Cai (PM: SP1, LC1, LC3; AM: LC5) and vice versa (PM: SP2, LC2, LC4; AM: LC 6) daily. The daytime route offers only hard seats, whereas travelers can enjoy soft-sleepers, Air-conditioned, four-berth cabins on the night trains.
In the SP3 & SP4, there are 2 Victoria Carriages. In SP1 & SP2, there are 2 Tulico Carriages, 1 Friendly Carriages, 2 Ratraco Carriages, and 2 TSC Carriages, 2 King Express Carriages, 2 Royal Carriages. All of these are alternatives for tourists to Sapa from Hanoi.

Victoria Train:
Each sleeping carriage has 6 superior cabins and 2 deluxe cabins, all are air-conditioned, wood panelled, with individual reading lights, baggage storage, toilets and oversized windows.
Note: The Victoria Express Train is for their guest only (you must stay at Victoria Sapa hotel to be able to book Victoria Express Train)

Tulico Train:
Tulico Express Train offers comfortable air-conditioned soft sleepers. This is a good value for money  train carriage. It is  good and clean cabin, especially the deluxe 2 berth cabin ( for 2 persons only) between Hanoi and Lao Cai. While this is is not a luxurious train it offers good alternative transportation to get to Sapa  from Hanoi. It is soft sleeper, A.C and clean 4 berth cabin. The train provide you one bottle of water, small snack and a napkin.

Livitrans Train:
Livitrans is a newly built train connecting Hanoi and Sapa. It is considered one of the most luxurious trains in Vietnam with its equipment equivalent to a high-class hotel. The train is a joint venture between Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industry Corporation and Vietnam Railway Corporation which officially starts its operation on 1st September 2007. Livitrans Express Train, which comprises of 9 wooden carriages and one electricity generation compartment, is expected to expand to 15 carriages to be able to accommodate 420 passengers in the near future. The train will feature sleeping carriage with 2 berths, 4 berths and 6 berths, a bar, toilets, LCD television sets on board, etc... of aviation standards. Passengers will be also offered drinks, confectionery and newspapers for free. With friendly staff and high class services, Livitrans Express Train will surely bring you a memorial trip to Sapa.

King Express Train:
King Express carriages can accommodate 26 berths with superior and deluxe cabins, accompanied by the hospitality of King express train staff. Fanxipan Express Train
Fanxipan Express Train have air-conditioned wood paneled, individual reading lights, baggage storege, toilets and overside window.Each pessenger will be service food and drink such as fruit juices, tea and snack bring the Vietnamese taste. Fanxipan Express has a tool providing cold and hot water. Fanxipan Express has a a mini bar on the conner of each carriage offering Vietnamese and westerm delights, snack and drinks. Royal Train to Sapa, Royal Express Train, Royal Deluxe Cabin

Royal Express Train also a part of regular train with 2 carriages in SP1 and SP2 between Hanoi and Lao Cai. The Royal Train is attracted by offering soft sleeper carriage, A/C clean four-berth cabins which create cozy comforts for travelers during the trip

* A couple of SE1/SE2 (34 hours and 40 minutes) express passenger trains stop at Hà Nội, Nam Định, Thanh Hóa, Vinh, Đồng Hới, Đông Hà, Huế, Lăng Cô, Đà Nẵng, Tam Kỳ, Quảng Ngãi, Diêu Trì, Tuy Hòa, Nha Trang, Tháp Chàm, Mương Mán, Sài Gòn.
* A couple of SE3/SE4 (29 hours and 30 minutes) express passenger trains stop at Hà Nội, Vinh, Đồng Hới, Huế, Đà Nẵng, Diêu Trì, Nha Trang, Sài Gòn.
* A couple of SE5/SE6 (32 hours) express passenger trains stop at Hà Nội, Phủ Lý, Nam Định, Ninh Bình, Thanh Hoá, Vinh, Đồng Hới, Huế, Đà Nẵng, Quảng Ngãi, Diêu Trì, Nha Trang, Tháp Chàm, Mương Mán, Biên Hòa, Sài Gòn.
